It's a bit of a shock, when pretty well all members have a dark or colorful background, yet the main page is stark white. To me it's a bit too much like over compressed tracks, not enough depth. ;-)

Maybe add a light grey or blue background.

I think it's OK, but like Jon, I think it's a bit of a contrast to the rest of the site. However, the lighter shades do make the site look happier and therefore more welcoming.

I like the white better than the gray
