Welcome to New classical
I figured that there are a bunch of groups (and more are likely to proliferate) focusing on a range of styles of popular music, but that it would be good to set up a place where people who are interested in creating or discussing new music created within the "classical" tradition could find one another, share discoveries, ask for feedback on their work and so on.
I should probably say that while the group will welcome suggested listening that might be classed in a popular genre, the focus of this group will be classical music written by living or not-terribly-long-dead composers. Examples of such composers might include Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, Peter Sculthorpe, James MacMillan, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Nico Muhly, Matthew Hindson, Elliott Carter and possibly - to stretch the point a little - Igor Stravinsky, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage. You should get the drift by now...
