Type of studio :
logic and a bunch of plugins
Country :
Canada
About :
Started off with GarageBand and was hooked instantly. Upgraded to LE7 and bought a couple soft-synths (Arturia's minimoog, Korg Legacy Collectio, Novation BassStation, iDrum). Decided I didn't like the chore of tweaking with a mouse or controller (had an Evolution UC-33e) and bought a Roland Alpha Ju-1 off of eBay for $100. Realized it suck to program and downloaded software to help. Discovered the PG-300 and it made my life more enjoyable. From here I wanted to get into FM synthesis and tracked down a cheap Casio CZ-1000. With 2 synths, I was becoming obsessed with keyboards and bought the rare Multivox/Firstman SQ-01, followed by another Juno - the Juno 6. With 2 Juno's my love for their sound started to grow and I scored a 106 for a decent price that had all the voice chips working properly. Somewhere along the road in all this I picked up a Yamaha DX-7 and a Sherman Filterbank to help in making things really harsh. All my beats are handle by a Korg ER-1. I hardly ever touch the plug-ins, and only do so to get my ideas down quickly. Eventually I just record the parts with one of the keyboards.

Writer's block

Since I started "collecting" vintage gear, I seem to have hit a wall. I haven't opened Logic in over 4 months. I think it's because I don't know what instrument to go to first and have the urge to try and use all instruments on a track. Either that or I turn on a synth and start tweaking it, messing around, and the next thing you know 2-3 hours has passed (usually more).

I think another one of my problems is that I have no musical training what so ever. I just like to make noise. It'd be grea… Continue

That is a cool SQ-01 that you have. Way to quench your thirst for synths! Good luck to you. Peace..
