Hey Jon

been super busy lately (hence no real activity here on MBS). I managed to listen to your tune today - but it was on my laptop, so not the greatest reference. Hopefully I'll get the chance to listen to it on my desk and I'll let you know what I think - so far its sounds pretty damn decent - so you could say that my vote's in already :o)

Cheers,
Cam

Hi Jon, thanks for the 'big-up' ! ...
I have run my own [personal] studio since late '90s. But....
I have spent the last 3 yrs building more than mixing [appart from gigs], 'cos i converted an old barn... so i'm out of the house & into the new facilities. Which are home to my new toys.
Serious improvement on the WAF [woman acceptance factor] !
Still on the learning curve for the cm4400, but the eq's are enormous, real pleasure after mixing in the box for years [ cubase sx]... and leave a mackie sr24:4 [my old mixer] in the cold.
In the middle of wiring up the edac looms to the 24track, so unable to use it [yet], but on the case. Updated my yamaha 01x for a tc konnekt48, and can tell the difference - [bypassing the desk]
Just getting to grips with the new cubase4, also a step forward from sx.
Hope to be running the studio 'for real' from 2009, which gives me time to sort out all cables/configs/rec formats, and do some real-world recording before the pressure begins !...
I have sonar5, that a friend uses here [his install]. But prefer Cubase4, perhaps by default use/knowledge. I havent really got any limitation issues with this platform, and like it. The sonar vst's are good tho' .
I'm not a fan of directX however. Asio wins for me.

funny we got almost the same mics !!
fools seldom differ - or great minds think alike ?

all the best
Alex

Heya Jon,
I've started a new discussion on compression under the mastering section in the forum. Maybe we'll get Streaky to give us some inside info?!!!

Jon,

Thank you so much for the comment in regards to the "Core-Way Down" mix.
Your comment was most helpful and I understand exactly what you are referring to.

I'll definitely have another go at the song. =)
Cheers!
